EMDR Intensives
What is an EMDR Intensive?
An EMDR intensive consists of several consecutive sessions of EMDR therapy. This type of therapy is specifically tailored to each individual patient based on their mutually agreed upon treatment plan. EMDR intensives can range from several hours of EMDR in one day to multiple consecutive days of deep, healing EMDR work.
What are the benefits of an EMDR Intensive?
-
Quicker relief: Unlike traditional weekly therapy, intensives don't require you to wait weeks or even months to start feeling better. Due to the nature of this deep, nervous system-focused work, you don't have to live with symptoms while you wait for therapy to take shape.
-
Greater value: Although intensives require a larger up-front cost, this type of therapy is usually effective with fewer sessions overall, thus saving money and time in the long-term.
-
Less disruption: EMDR intensives typically don't require you to leave session feeling like you were in the middle of something, minimizing emotional whiplash between sessions. There is plenty of time to create safety, process deeply, and ensure for appropriate session closure.
-
Great adjunct therapy: EMDR intensives are considered a great add-on service for patients already engaged in talk therapy. This means that you don't have to break-up with your current therapist.
-
Great for busy schedules or individuals living in areas with limited access to therapy: It can be tough to fit weekly therapy into a busy schedule. With an EMDR intensive, results can be achieved simply by taking a few days off work - or by taking a short trip to Florida if you live in an area with limited options.
